Art Director

An art director, in the hierarchical structure of a film art department, works directly below the production designer, and above the set designer, but on the same level as the set decorator. A large part of their duties include the administrative aspects of the art department.

Artificial Snow

We define artificial snow as products which we use when creating professional artificial winter effects.

Assistant Director

The Assistant director (AD) is a filmmaking role. The duties include: setting the shooting schedule, tracking daily progress against the filming production schedule, arranging logistics, rounding up cast and crew by preparing daily call sheets, checking they have all arrived, maintaining order on the set, rehearsing cast and directing background artists (extras).

Black Ice

Black ice typically refers to a thin coating of glazed ice on a surface, often a road. While not truly black, it is transparent, allowing the usually black asphalt road surface to be seen through it, hence the term.

Camera

A camera is a device used to take pictures, either singly or in sequence, with or without sound recording, such as with video cameras.

Cameraman

A cameraman is the person that operates the camera on film sets.

Costume Designer

The Costume designer is the person whose responsibility is to design costumes for a film or stage production.

Christmas Tree

A Christmas tree is one of the most popular traditions associated with the celebration of Christmas. It is normally an evergreen coniferous tree that is brought into a home or used in the open, and is decorated with Christmas lights and colourful ornaments during the days around Christmas.

Director

A film director is a person who directs the making of a film. Generally, a film director controls a film's artistic and dramatic aspects, and visualizes the script while guiding the technical crew and actors in the fulfilment of that vision. It is the director's sense of drama, along with the creative visualization of the script that transforms a screenplay into a well-made motion picture.

Disney

The Walt Disney Company is one of the largest media and entertainment corporations in the world. Disney's corporate headquarters and primary production facilities are located at the Walt Disney Studios in Burbank, California, USA.

DOP

The title is generally equivalent to director of photography, used to designate a chief over the camera and lighting crews working on a film, responsible for achieving artistic and technical decisions related to the image.

Effects

Something brought about by a cause or agent. The power to produce an outcome or achieve a result.

Events

A special occasion, such as a gathering or other type of party, is classed as an event.

Falling Snow Effects

Filming Location

A filming location is a place where some or all of a film or television series is produced, in addition to or instead of using sets constructed on a studio back-lot or in a studio. On location is a term used to describe the filming on such a real site.

Film Studio

A film studio is a controlled environment for the making of a film. This environment may be interior (sound stage), exterior (back-lot), or both.

Fire retardant snow

Fire retardant snow is a product especially designed for use indoors and one that has been issued with a B1 fire classification.

Frost

Frost, like snow, is the result of deposition of water vapour in saturated air. The size of the crystals depends on time and the amount of water vapour available.

Hoar frost refers to the white ice crystals, deposited on the ground or exposed objects that form when the air is moist and surface is cold.

A production manager is a member of the film crew and a subordinate of the line producer. He is responsible for keeping the film within its budget and the smooth running of the production process.

Property Master

The property master is an artistic and organizational employee in a film, television or theatrical production who is responsible for buying, acquiring and/or manufacturing any props needed for a production.

Props

Props are defined as items which are handled directly by actors, and there are many discussions between a set decorator and a prop master to be sure that everything is being covered.

Set Decorator

A set decorator is in charge of the set dressing on a film set, which includes the furnishings, wallpaper, lighting fixtures, and many of the other objects that will be seen in the film.
